BON23 has been sponsored in part by a generous grant from the Niagara Falls National Heritage Area

BIRDS on the Niagara (BON23), North America's only international bird festival, is proud to announce that 2023 will be our 6th consecutive year of this wonderful event. Our Mission is both educational and designed to promote outdoor experiences for families, birders of all levels, and individuals and visitors to our region. We host a wide variety of walks, tours, presentations and exhibits at a number of sites throughout the international Niagara River Corridor.

Our topics include:

BIRDS - We celebrate Niagara's winter bird populations with our Annual February Festival, and we explore and promote year round birding, birding issues, and birding places.

CONSERVATION - We explore and examine a variety of conservation issues and strategies that impact our bi-national region, birds, and the many biodiverse forms of wildlife and habitats in our area

SOCIAL JUSTICE AND INCLUSION: It is a fundamental value of BON to include multi-cultural and gender oriented discussions, strategies and perspectives. BON23 is proud to announce that as a part of our inclusion context, most of our events, walks, presentations are free, open to the public and welcoming to the diverse people of our region.

BON23 has a particular focus on the FUTURE.  Given the many cultural, climate, and development oriented issues, it is important that we frame BON23 in a context that is looking forward and helps to plan for a planet and a region that promotes a positive quality of life for us, and for coming generations.
